My name is Mama Janet and I live in Umoja Estate in Nairobi. I am a mother of three children. My youngest son, Brian, almost destroyed everything we had built with his father. But I thank God and I thank Shaba Mangube Doctors. Because of them, my son is alive, sober and focused again.
Brian was always a bright boy. In primary school, he scored well and joined a good high school. But after Form Two, I started seeing changes. He would come home with red eyes. My neighbours started avoiding us. Parents warned their children to stay away from him. My husband started blaming me. Our home was filled with arguments and sorrow. I prayed every night.
One afternoon, while in a matatu, I overheard two women talking about a son who had changed completely after getting help from Shaba Mangube Doctors. They said he had been violent, dropping out of school, even threatened his own mother. But after some spell was done, he started behaving like a different person. He even went back to school.
I reached out to them through the number they shared. I spoke to a man who listened without judging me. I was shaking and crying as I explained everything. The first three days, I saw no change. But on the fourth morning, he came to me and asked for porridge. He looked tired but calm. He slept most of that day. By the sixth day, he came to the sitting room and asked if he could talk to a counsellor. I almost collapsed.
He told the counsellor he had been feeling trapped. Like something was always pushing him to do bad things even when he didn’t want to. But now, that feeling was fading. He said it felt like someone had opened a door in his head and fresh air was coming in.
It has now been three months. Brian is clean. He has started working at a friend’s garage. He brings home food and sometimes surprises me with flour or sugar. My husband has forgiven him. Our home is peaceful again.
I do not know what others believe, but I know what worked for us. Sometimes change needs more than talking. It needs spiritual unlocking. And for that, I thank Shaba Mangube Doctors.
