Thug in Eldoret Hugs Street Preacher and Confesses to Stealing Bible from His Open-Air Crusade

Yesterday I witnessed something I have never seen since my mum brought me to this world 24 years ago. A young man, well known in the neighbourhood and who had been respected for keeping to himself, approached a pastor in the middle of a crusade and told him everything. Not just small things, but big things. He confessed openly to how he and his friends planned and carried out a robbery during a church crusade.

He said they waited until the crowd had gone home. They drunk all the altar wine. They broke into the tent where the instruments were kept. They took the microphones, the speaker batteries and even the holy books. The most painful part, he said, was carrying the preacher’s Bible.

Now, that very same Bible has been lying under his bed for over two weeks, and it has refused to stay quiet. The boy said every night he hears noises. Not from the street. Not from people. But from that Bible.

A Scene That Brought Everything to a Standstill

The preacher was holding a microphone and had just finished a fiery session of prayer. People were clapping. Some were crying. Some were standing with hands lifted. But in the middle of that holy moment, this young man pushed through the crowd, walked right to the preacher, and hugged him.

It wasn’t a normal hug. It was long. Tight. And then he fell to his knees.

He said, “Forgive me, man of God. I took what I was not supposed to. I have come to return it.”

At first people thought he was just touched by the message. But when he started mentioning the stolen items one by one, a heavy silence fell on the field. Even birds seemed to stop flying. A woman near me fainted. Others started praying. Some were too shocked to say a word.

This Was Not His First Time

The pastor, calm and gentle, helped him up. He gave him water. He told him to breathe slowly. Then he asked him to explain what happened.

“We saw your people putting money in envelopes. We thought there was more in your tent. After the prayers, when everyone left, we came with two motorbikes. My friends were waiting on the road. I entered, took the wine, the offerings, and the Bible. That night we celebrated like fools. But from that night, I have not slept.”

He said the Bible followed him in dreams. Sometimes he would hear it opening by itself. Other times he would hear verses being read inside his house when no one was there.

Who Is This Preacher?

The preacher is not just a man of God who reads the Bible, prays and goes home. People say he is deeper than what the eye sees. He has helped many people recover lost items. And this is not the first time someone returned something they stole from his ministry.

He is the kind of person people whisper about when they say, “Don’t cross his path. You will regret.”

He has quietly been using something more than just prayer. He uses a form of spiritual shield that causes thieves and wrongdoers to be exposed or punished in ways that even police cannot manage.

The Truth Behind The Return

A close assistant to the preacher later confirmed that what happened is not new.

He said, “The man of God has ways to protect himself, his ministry and his followers. We do not fight physically. We just allow the wrongdoers to be caught by the work of higher forces.”

When I asked what kind of forces, he only said, “Let us just say we know where to turn when things go wrong.”

The truth is, word around Eldoret town is spreading fast about a certain number that people are calling when their things disappear. A number that has been helping victims get justice when no police or relative can help.

The number is +254795613711. Many now believe that once you dial it, you will be connected to a force that knows how to track down what was lost. Whether it was a phone, goat, money or even something sacred like a Bible.

Others Start to Confess

Just when the crowd thought it was over, another man in a red cap walked forward. He said he was part of the same group. He said he hid the speaker under his cousin’s bed. Now he wants to return it.

Another boy also admitted to drinking the altar wine, claiming it has made him sick ever since.

The preacher stood firm. He told them, “If you come with a true heart and give back what you took, you will be free. But if you lie and try to hide, you will suffer more than you think.”

Word Spreads Like Wildfire

By midday, half of the town had heard about the incident. Photos were flying all over WhatsApp. A short video clip of the young man hugging the preacher had already reached Nairobi.

In the market, women were telling each other, “Don’t play with holy people. They don’t chase you. You chase yourself.”

Men in the boda stage were arguing about whether to report a case or try the same number everyone is now talking about.

This Is Not Just About Religion

What many people are learning is that this is not just about church or spiritual matters. This is about justice. Simple, fast, quiet justice.

People are tired of going to police stations and returning home empty-handed. Tired of being laughed at when they report stolen phones or missing livestock. Now they are exploring other means. And stories like this one are convincing them that maybe it works.

Even the doubters have nothing to say. Because how do you explain a grown man crying, returning a Bible, and falling on his knees in public?

What Will Happen To Him Now?

As far as the law is concerned, no case was opened. The pastor chose forgiveness. He said, “Let this be a testimony. Let him tell others what he went through. That is more powerful than jail.”

The young man was taken to a side tent where he was prayed for. He cried a lot. But later, he said he felt light. Like a heavy load had been lifted.

He said he would return all the stolen church property. He promised to bring his friends too.

Lessons From This Day

There are three things this story teaches us.

One, no matter how smart you are, when you take what is not yours, you will be exposed.

Two, people are no longer fighting back with fists. They are turning to higher powers.

Three, sometimes justice comes not with police, but with shame, confession and a quiet hug.

Final Word To The Public

If you have ever lost something, don’t give up.

There are still ways to get justice. Sometimes not through the courts or police, but through other trusted people who have helped many before.

That number again, in case you need it, is:
